Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to get my cover?
Each cover is built to order using fresh fabric, so you are not buying a cover that has been in a box for several years. Plan on 7-10 business days for delivery of a Westland Cover and about 6-7 weeks for a Carver Cover (due to Covid-19). The peak months of April-July can add an extra 5-7 days.
Which fabric should I choose?
Here are some things to consider:
1) Location in the country – Experienced boat owners in the Gulf States, Arizona, Southern California (intense sun and humidity) prefer Sunbrella for its long lasting quality and breathability. Customers in other states can choose from any of the fabrics.
2) Boat storage (indoors/outdoors) - If your boat is outside all year, a thick fabric like Sunbrella is recommended. If your boat is outside only during the boating season, choose from any of the fabrics.
3) Trailering – All fabrics trailer well. If you trailer A LOT with the cover on, then select a thicker fabric.
4) See the FABRICS page for details.
I can’t find an Exact-Fit/Custom cover for my boat on your website, so what do I do?
Sorry, but unfortunately Bald Mike’s cannot help you with a boat cover at this time.
How much is shipping?
FREE in the continental USA! (Canada add $60, AK, HI & International add $150)
Are there trailering/tie down straps included?
Yes, trailering straps are automatically included with Exact-Fit/Custom cover orders.
Are these cover trailerable?
Yes, they are designed for towing.
How do I keep my trailering/tie down straps from flapping in the wind?
Give them a few twists (spiral look) before buckling them.
My boat has an aftermarket wakeboard tower, so what can I do?
This is common. The best way to handle this situation is to order the cover for your boat, without the tower, then have it altered locally for your aftermarket tower. Figure about $100-$150 for these alterations at a local shop.
Can you expedite my order?
No, sorry. All orders ship via UPS Ground.
Does Bald Mike’s manufacture the covers?
No, Bald Mike's represents the top two custom boat cover manufacturers in the USA: Westland Covers and Carver Covers.
Why should I buy from Bald Mike versus having a boat cover made locally?
The advantage to Bald Mike’s is CONVENIENCE, SPEED and PRICE. A local shop needs to schedule you in, keep your boat for a period of time, charge appropriately for labor to design the pattern, and make your cover. Bald Mike’s covers have already been designed at each boat manufacturers’ facility when the boat was built, thus the pattern is always available. The manufacturer can produce several covers per day, so your new cover is generally completed in just a couple days. Meanwhile your boat never left your possession. It is common for a Bald Mike’s custom cover to be at least half the cost of a local shop.
